Special session EARSeL 2019 call: low-altitude / high-resolution remote sensing for vegetation monitoring

Dear colleagues,

The 11th EARSeL Imaging Spectroscopy Workshop will be organized in Brno, Czech Republic on 6-8 February 2019 (http://is.earsel.org/workshop/11-IS-Brno2019/). Following up on the exciting low-altitude remote sensing sessions at the 10th EARSeL, I would like to invite you to contribute to our special session on “low-altitude / high-resolution remote sensing for vegetation monitoring”. The idea is to present and discuss ideas and approaches that help to mature the field. Topics for the contributions may include (but are not limited to):

–          UAV remote sensing

–          spectral, thermal and 3D sensing

–          high-resolution monitoring of natural and cultivated ecosystems (including agriculture, field phenotyping and forestry applications)

–          sensors

–          sensor calibration and validation

–          data calibration and validation

–          measurement protocols

–          sampling strategies

–          spatial scaling

We welcome already published and non-published contributions as well as contributions that stimulate discussion or with an educational touch (e.g. best practice procedures or “fails” – along with measures to prevent them). I would very much appreciate if you could indicate your interest to such a session and send a short preliminary topic of you talk to me (helge.aasen@usys.ethz.ch) by the 27th of August. The deadline for abstract submission is the 7th of September. Please indicate in your abstract, if the research is already published. There will be a special issue by the conference organisers, but already published contributions cannot be considered.

Thanks a lot and kind regards,

Helge and Eija
